Move.
I can’t understand why so many people have difficulty grasping the concept of a passing lane.
I wonder if it’s a Driver’s Education thing.
Lewisville, TX. A ragtag band of eager 15-year-olds; brought together into a dimly lit corner of a suburban strip mall. Every weekday for 3 consecutive weeks, we’d pile into a white Mustang with our middle-aged driving guru. He was like a god to us. Sure, our parents had been driving us around for as long as we could remember, but they weren’t ”experts” like this guy.
Let me say this. There are a few things that he taught us that I still remember.
- Don’t brake while going over railroad tracks – it can be bad for your brakes.
- Avoid the natural tendency to turn the wheel when you look over your shoulder to change lanes. Hold steady, my friend.
- When you’re in the middle of an intersection waiting to turn left, wait for the light to turn RED. People run yellow lights all the time.
- When you see brake lights ahead of you (even if it’s not the car directly in front of you), brake immediately. ( I have avoided several wrecks this way).
- And, finally, THE PASSING LANE IS FOR PASSING, YOU @#$@% IDIOT.
His words, not mine.
So, for those of you who have not had the joy of sitting under the tutelage of a true traffic master, please read a book about driving, or search the web. Something. Please.
